ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

MISSION & Vision

  • Nomadica Project was created in response to the growing pressures facing grassroots music culture — from venue closures and rising costs to the lack of sustainable support for independent artists and audiences.

The project exists to explore more thoughtful and community-driven approaches to live music, centred around cultural connection, atmosphere and meaningful artistic experiences.

More than an event platform, Nomadica is an evolving creative project experimenting with how music, performance and shared spaces can be brought together in a more human, accessible and sustainable way.

  • Nomadica Project believes artists should be paid fairly, respected properly, and supported transparently — including the responsible handling of performance fees and PRS royalties.

The platform also aims to keep live music accessible by exploring approaches that avoid placing unnecessary financial pressure on performers or audiences.

Rather than existing as a statement alone, ethical practice is intended to shape how Nomadica grows, collaborates and operates over time.

  • Nomadica Project approaches programming as a carefully shaped journey rather than a collection of separate acts.

Artists are selected and combined through shared influences, contrast, energy and musical flow — allowing each line-up to develop its own identity and progression throughout the event.

Alongside the music itself, attention is also given to pacing, environment and audience experience to create spaces that feel connected, intentional and alive.

As the project develops, the format will continue evolving through experimentation, collaboration and live testing.

  • Alongside its creative direction, Nomadica Project also supports selected operational and administrative work as part of its hands-on learning approach.

The aim is to help reduce some of the organisational pressure placed on artists while building real-world experience across live music production, coordination and event planning.

This practical approach allows the project to better understand the realities of the industry while developing sustainable foundations for future growth, collaboration and responsible event creation.

  • Nomadica Project is being developed alongside studies within the BA (Hons) Live Events and Festival Management programme at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP), combining academic research with real-world creative practice.

Rather than existing only as a concept, the project is being shaped through hands-on learning, experimentation and ongoing development across programming, production and live music culture.

At the same time, Nomadica also acts as an evolving case study — allowing research, industry experience and practical application to grow together throughout the project’s journey.

  • Over time, Nomadica Project aims to grow into an internationally connected music collective centred around cultural exchange, collaboration and forward-thinking live experiences.

Future plans may include collaborative productions, multi-venue events, broadcast-based projects and partnerships with independent venues, cultural organisations and local institutions.

The long-term ambition is to build a sustainable platform rooted in artistic integrity, creative freedom and independent culture, while also exploring conscious production methods and collaborations with environmental and animal-focused initiatives aligned with the project’s values.

  • Current artist research and A&R activity are being developed internally as the project continues to evolve.

Over time, curated playlists and listening sessions may also be shared publicly to highlight the musical directions being explored and support artist visibility across streaming platforms.
